In practice
When a word cloud is the right slide
Whenever you don't want to prescribe the answers — or don't know them yet:
- Ice-breaker: “which word describes your week?” Twenty seconds later the room is awake and everyone has contributed.
- Brainstorming: gather ideas before the discussion starts, so the quiet contributions don't get lost.
- A read of the mood: “what do you associate with our new strategy?” The big words are the result, the small ones are the interesting remainder.
- Expectations at the start, a look back at the end: the same question twice, two clouds to compare.
- Checking terminology: what stuck after a training session? The cloud shows it faster than any quiz.
Staying honest
Word clouds have no word filter
omul does not filter free text automatically: there is no profanity filter and no approval step before a term is shown. What does exist are two routes that usually suffice in practice — collect quietly and reveal only once you have seen the submissions, and delete individual entries, with the cloud in the room and every export following immediately. If your format truly requires up-front moderation, tell us before the stage rather than on it.

Collect quietly and delete one entry — on the same cloud
- Collect quietly: the cloud fills, the stage stays empty. You reveal once you have read the submissions.
- Delete one: each click removes exactly one entry — the term shrinks and only disappears with its last. The cloud in the room and every export follow immediately, not at the next reload.
What does not exist: an automatic profanity filter and an approval step before display. This demo therefore cannot do it either — it only does what the product does.

Frequently asked questions about word clouds
How do I create a word cloud?
Add a word-cloud slide to your presentation and write the question above it. When you present, the audience joins with the 6-digit code and types their terms on their own device — the cloud builds live on the shared view.
How many terms may one person submit?
You set that per slide: one answer, up to five, or unlimited. The cap is enforced on the write path and holds even when a whole room submits at once.
Can I remove inappropriate entries?
Yes, individual entries can be deleted — the cloud in the room and every export then show the cleaned-up state. There is, however, no automatic word filter and no approval before display. If the risk is high, collect quietly and reveal only after you have seen the submissions.
How many participants are possible?
There is no participant cap — not per event, not per month, and not on the free plan.
Are the submissions anonymous?
There are no participant accounts and no recognition across sessions. Within one session each submission carries a pseudonymous participation id — pseudonymous is not the same as anonymous. And whatever someone types into a free-text field stands as typed: tell your audience what they're joining.
Can I export the terms?
Yes, as a spreadsheet and as a PDF, frequencies included. There's a shareable results link as well.
